About Leaf Energy

Leaf Energy is an early-stage energy technology company developing residential and small-commercial battery energy storage systems for India. Our initial product is a 51.2V lithium iron phosphate battery system designed to integrate with solar and hybrid inverters, supported by intelligent monitoring and a mobile application. We are advancing from research and development toward proof-of-concept, field validation, and commercialization.

About the role

We are seeking a versatile, execution-oriented Project Engineer who can work across engineering analysis, market development, digital presence, and field operations. This is a hands-on startup role for someone comfortable moving between technical work, customer engagement, partner coordination, and project execution. The role reports directly to the founders and leadership team.

Key responsibilities

  • Lead development and ongoing management of the Leaf Energy website, including product pages, educational content, lead forms, SEO, and performance improvements.
  • Research Indian residential and MSME energy-storage markets, including customer segments, pricing, regional demand, channels, competitors, and relevant policies.
  • Benchmark competing products across specifications, pricing, warranties, service models, and positioning.
  • Generate and qualify opportunities among customers, solar installers, EPC companies, distributors, and channel partners.
  • Conduct customer and partner interviews, site visits, and market engagement to uncover needs and validate assumptions.
  • Develop brochures, presentations, technical content, LinkedIn posts, case studies, and other brand materials.
  • Translate market intelligence and field feedback into product requirements and go-to-market actions.
  • Coordinate cross-functional initiatives and external partners while tracking timelines, deliverables, risks, and weekly progress.

Required qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer, Electrical, Electronics, Mechanical, Energy Engineering, or a related discipline.
  • One to three years of relevant professional, internship, or project experience.
  • Basic understanding of batteries, solar systems, inverters, electrical systems, or power electronics.
  • Strong analytical skills and the ability to interpret technical specifications and organize engineering data.
  • Strong written and spoken communication skills in English and Hindi.
  • Proficiency in Excel, PowerPoint, and Word, or equivalent tools.
  • Willingness to travel, meet customers, and work at project sites.
  • Ability to work independently across technical and business assignments in a fast-moving startup.

Preferred qualifications

  • Experience in market research, competitor analysis, customer outreach, lead generation, or technical sales.
  • Familiarity with CRM tools, WordPress, Webflow, Wix, SEO, social-media marketing, or digital analytics.
  • Experience with prototype testing, data acquisition, engineering documentation, or supplier coordination.
  • Relationships with solar installers, EPC companies, or electrical distributors. Regional-language skills are a plus.

What success looks like in the first six months

  • Build a qualified database of customers, installers, distributors, and potential partners with a consistent follow-up process.
  • Complete structured market and competitor analyses for priority regions and convert findings into recommendations.
  • Help launch and maintain a credible, lead-generating website and effective technical and promotional materials.
  • Conduct regular customer and installer visits, translating feedback into product and commercial actions.
  • Support prototype testing, document product performance, and maintain reliable schedules and progress reporting.

Ideal candidate

You are curious, resourceful, and comfortable working without rigid job boundaries. You enjoy engineering analysis but are equally willing to call a prospective customer, visit an installation site, coordinate with a website developer, or prepare for an industry event. You take ownership, follow through, and focus on outcomes.

Why join Leaf Energy

  • Work directly with the founding team during the company's formative stage.
  • Gain hands-on exposure to battery technology, product development, and commercialization.
  • Help build clean-energy products designed for Indian households and businesses.
  • Develop broad experience across engineering, strategy, marketing, and business development with significant responsibility and rapid growth potential.

Compensation

Compensation will be competitive and based on experience, technical capabilities, and fit with an early-stage startup.
